At a conference to be held in Prishtina, the capital of Kosovo, on 30 September 2026 on the occasion of World Translation Day, Mehmet Hakkı Suçin will discuss the relationship that Sezai Karakoç, one of the most original voices of modern Turkish poetry, established with world literature.

Karakoç’s poetry is often read only through a native and Islamic vein. Yet through his translations from East and West, the poet sets out a literary vision that both nourishes his own poetics and opens new horizons for Turkish readers. Suçin will consider the two sides of Karakoç’s translation work together and explain how they stand in dialogue with his own poetry.

The conference will take place at the Yunus Emre Institute in Prishtina.
