Abstract
The growing interest in learning Arabic in recent years has made it important to reconsider the methods and approaches used in language teaching. Although contemporary methods are increasingly used in teaching Arabic, the teaching of Arabic literature — widely regarded as presenting particular difficulties — has not received the same attention.
This article examines Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), one of the communicative approaches now widely used, in the context of teaching Arabic literature. It discusses the concept of the task, the definition, types and components of tasks, and the core principles of task-based teaching.
The article also emphasizes the importance of literature in language teaching and proposes that Arabic literature be treated not merely as a field for transmitting literary knowledge but as teaching material that allows students to use the language in a communicative context.
It closes with a sample lesson model showing how the task-based approach can be applied in an Arabic literature course. The model aims to help students engage actively with literary texts, use the language for communicative purposes, and take a direct part in the process of making meaning of the literary text.
